Un minuto de silencio : Net Cries Out for Madrid
Liza Sabater

I've visited several times Madrid and even worked there a summer. Living in New York City and having witnessed 9/11, this latest attack has me rattled. I avoid subways as much as I can but, in truth, it is impossible not to use it New York City. And in truth, taxis and even buses could be used as the next terrorist weapon of choice. Needless to say, I'm worried ---and walking.
Bitacoras.com : Blogs . Weblogs : Espaol . Catal . Euskara . Galego . has created a blog to track events, moblogging and any other bitácora activity related to the Madrid madness called, 11 de marzo de 2004. The Argentinian newspaper, La Nación published a link list called How blogs have dealt with the attacks in Madrid (Cómo se ocuparon los weblogs de los atentados en Madrid).
Leander Kahney writes about the Net's response and it's memefication of the event. In Wired News: Net Cries Out for Madrid, he describes how RSS and moblogging are playing an important part in spreading the news of this event. Since this morning, I've seen 5 news updates, from lists of injured to doubts about ETA's responsibility to confirmation of Al-Qeda's hand in the attack. Instapundit and 101-280 reminds us of how we can show our support by contacting Spanish embassies around the US and sending our condolences or going to their vigils.
Un minuto de silencio.
The world is in mourning for Madrid.
