Metamemewatch: Minding the Planet

Paul Ford's Ftrain is in full effect and from it I ended up at Nova Spivack's Minding the Planet, wherein he asks the musical question

Do You Like This Blog? Help Me Spread It Like a Virus!... If you like this blog - help me spread it like a virus to others who might like it too. That way this blog will become a better meme - a meme for spreading memes - A metameme. If everyone who reads this blog gets 2 other people to subscribe to it (or read it), we'll have a very effective channel for reaching people with really unusual ideas. And the world needs more unusual ideas today.

And so on, and so on...

Anyway, Nova Spivack, what a great name! He's already sent me off chasing after the nature of consciousness, the marriage of blogs and wikis, and the evolutionary benefits of cross-species mating.

He's looking for contributors too:

And by the way, if you come across any interesting memes that I should post here; let me know. If you are reading this, you are probably the type of person who comes across a lot of interesting things. Please join my network of memetic reporters and help me find the early fingerprints of the most interesting and important memes that will shape the world tomorrow.

Maybe I should give him my memewatch.com domain. I'm not doing much with it! He'll be good fodder for that link list once I get around to putting it up and documenting it.

Meanwhile, been posting some photos.

UPDATE: Nova gently corrected my assumption that he is a she. I have fixed the pronouns in the entry. By the way, that test of writing gender considers me female, at least based on the front page of X-POLLEN. [2003-08-21 11:19]

Query: blogs as primary online interaction tool?: Nancy White from Full Circle asks (on the Well, in the blog conference): Are any of you familiar with a community of practice that uses a blog or a collection of blogs as their primary form of online interaction tool? If so, I'm very interested in talking to them as part... (People Power)

Continued Category Chaos: Well, per my last entry, the fix listed fixed some problems but the category/navigator links still look messed up. Again this seems to have to do with when things are re-rendered. Frustrating.... Apologies for the design inconsistencies as I try to resolve these technical difficulties. In other news, I just opened... ()
Fuzzy Rules!: Working on my list of Radio problems and wishes: Switch from FTP and back left address/link artifacts Themes rendered incompletely in categories/not updated fully How did I fill up 10 meg so quickly? Open Source Radio Handbook: Scott of the Fuzzy Group is releasing his Radio documentation as an open source book, since O'Reilly used only a fraction of it in the Radio chapter of the upcoming Essential Blogging: As the author of the O'Reilly Essential Blogging chapters on Radio, I clearly have a commercial interest in Radio.... Feels Like a Transporter Accident: Sorry for so many posts about the technicalities of this specific blog. It's frustrating. Radio still thinks my home page is over at my own site, so the 'before' and 'after' navigation points over to the mirror, as do the navigator/category links. The calendar links point to the blogs.salon.com address, so... (Salon Bloggers)
Ten Meg Limit?: I'm still not sure what I'm supposed to do when I've filled the 10 meg provided on the Salon community server. I've pruned a few unused graphics. It's hard to believe I've upstreamed that much text! Also, after publishing a copy of this site to my own host and then switching... (Salon Bloggers)
Just Paid for Radio: Well, my trial was almost up so I just paid for this copy of Radio. Feels good. Now for some reason, though, it seems like my posts from today (Tuesday) aren't showing up on the home page. Also, and I don't know if this is related, I have only 1% of... (Weblog Concepts)
Business 2.0 says 'Accountability Is Always in Style': In Business 2.0, Rafe Needleman writes about a "dashboard" product to help VCs monitor the status of their investments: Dotcom flameout notwithstanding, the need for this product is greater than ever. Why Does Newsweek Spell Blog-osphere Like That (With a Hyphen)?: Just got around to reading the Steven Levy article on blogging in Newsweek online. It seems like a fairly accurate and balanced, if shallow, introduction to the concepts. One interesting comment he makes in a kind of phony blog they use to illustrate the concept is that if there are supposedly... (Memes)
